IT'S TIME FOR CHANGE

This election is being treated like a Westminster game. It will never be that to me. For too long, the people of Mid Beds have been without a voice to fight for them in Parliament. With your support, I plan on changing that.

But talk is cheap – you know that better than anybody. Which is why for the last three months I have been out earning your trust and showing you that politics doesn’t have to be like this.

If I have the privilege of representing you in Parliament I will work day and night to deliver for you, and never take it for granted.

Since I was selected as a candidate, I have knocked on thousands of doors and hosted public events to meet as many of you as possible.

I want to show you that politics can be different. That things can be better.

Right across the constituency, the same issues are coming up time and time again. Whether rising mortgage costs, access to vital services like GPs or a justified fear of development – I will always fight your corner.

If we haven’t met yet, I hope we’ll get the chance to meet soon.



A LOCAL DOCTOR AND DENTIST WHEN YOU NEED IT

Thousands of you are waiting more than a month to see a GP and in the last year, hundreds of local children have had to go to hospital to have a tooth pulled out because they couldn’t see a dentist. As your MP, my first priority will be more doctors and dentists for you. I delivered a new health centre for my residents as a councillor when everyone said it couldn’t be done. I will bring people together to find the solutions we need.

TACKLE THE COST OF LIVING CRISIS

Like our Shadow Chancellor, Rachel Reeves, I’ve worked at the Bank of England. I know that high inflation and rising food, fuel and mortgage costs are hurting people. I’ll use my experience to make the case for strong economic policy that benefits local people. Unlike this government, I want you to keep as much of your hard-earned money as possible. That’s what I’ll fight for from day one.

FIGHT THE SCOURGE OF ANTISOCIAL BEHAVIOUR

The government have let you down on crime. Last year, over 5,000 public order offences were recorded in Bedfordshire. That's 5,000 lives blighted by crime. The Lib Dems want to legalise drugs, which I don’t believe aligns with our values here. As your MP, I will be tough on crime, bring the police together with local communities, and fight to bring neighbourhood policing back to our streets.

PUTTING OUR CHILDREN FIRST

When Sure Start and the ‘Building Schools for the Future’ programme were axed by the coalition government, the Conservatives and the Lib Dems let down an entire generation of young people in our country. I will fight to increase the number of school and childcare places in Mid Bedfordshire’s towns and villages, and make sure our children are taught in buildings that are safe and fit for purpose.

NO NEW-BUILDS WITHOUT PROPER INFRASTRUCTURE

If developers want my support, they’ll need to take your concerns onboard first. I’ll make sure you’re never ignored. With me, you’ll be the first to hear about building plans in your neighbourhood and if they don't work for you, I'll stand with you in opposing them. For people on new estates, I'll hold developers to account for their broken promises.

I grew up in Bedfordshire, went to school at Sharnbrook Academy and had my first job in Cranfield. I’m proud to live in Shefford, in the heart of our county.

I’ll use my experience of getting things done as a councillor and at the Bank of England to deliver real change in Mid Beds. Standing up for you is my priority.
