My sincere thanks to the 17,953 people across Mid Bedfordshire who voted for me, their Labour candidate in last week’s general election. With your help we secured Labour’s largest vote here since 1970 – a remarkable achievement. Rhiannon Meades
In the week since the General Election my thanks and gratitude have only deepened as I reflect on the campaign. I have so much to be thankful for.
I’d like to thank the wonderful members and volunteers of Mid Beds Labour who mounted an enthusiastic campaign throughout the general election and shared our Labour values across the constituency in a spirit of solidarity, tolerance and respect. What an amazing and growing team we have!
In particular I’d like to thank my rock of an agent, Louise Chinnery, and my wonderful campaign manager, John Tizard, whose wisdom and tenacity are inspirational. Thank you to Margaret for her skilful crafting of copy, thank you to Rachel for her diligence and precision, thanks for Dan’s detailed deployment of facts and figures, thanks to the energetic team at “Aspley Guise is Labour” and thank you to David for his calm and steady presence.
Thank you to my wonderful partner, Lee, for his constant support, and patience – and to my daughter, Matilda, for being such a good girl. I’m very proud of you. I love you both.
My sincere thanks to the 17,953 people across Mid Bedfordshire who voted for me, their Labour candidate in last week’s general election. With your help we secured Labour’s largest vote here since 1970 – a remarkable achievement.
During the campaign we made no assumptions about where Labour support is in Mid Bedfordshire and found our colours in every village and town. This demonstrates strong support for our positive message of hope and our progressive policies. It was a privilege to meet so many local residents, community groups and businesses and to receive such a warm reception. Mid Beds Labour can build on this foundation in future elections and will continue to listen to, and support local communities in Mid Bedfordshire. We are here. We are ready to listen.
Whatever deals are struck to shore up the weakened Conservative position we have seen huge support for Labour’s positive vision for a fairer economy, reducing inequality and defending public services; and for Jeremy Corbyn’s principled articulation of our Labour values.
