“This election will shape the future of our country and the life chances for our families.
We are faced with a stark choice between a Labour Party committed to social justice, giving us the people the final say on Brexit, ending poverty, reversing austerity and tackling the climate emergency or a Conservative Party which will put jobs at risk with a flawed Brexit proposal, deepen austerity, put the interests of the wealthiest one per cent ahead of the rest of us and increase child poverty to record levels.
This election we can vote to save our NHS or to risk it being sold to the highest bidders from the USA.
We can vote for free dentistry, free prescriptions, free personal social care for the elderly and free broadband by voting Labour.
We can vote Labour for more Sure Start centres and investment in our schools or for more Conservative financial pressures on our schools.
In Mid Bedfordshire the only Party which can challenge the previously large Conservative majority is Labour.
The most existential crisis facing us is the climate emergency. A Friends of the Earth survey has recognised that Labour has the best and most comprehensive policies to address this climate emergency.
Above all, Mid Bedfordshire electors can vote for an MP who would put the interests of Mid Bedfordshire, its residents and their communities, and local businesses at the heart of every action and every decision that they make – that’s what they will get if they elect me. Or they can vote for an absentee MP.
I am proud to be standing for the constituency in which I live and am proud of my Labour values. I believe in the power of democratic collective action to support all us, in redistributing wealth and power, in building a fair economy and more equal society, international collaboration, and never walking on the other side of the road when there is any fellow human being in need.
I am confident that my values and believes are shared by many many people in Mid Bedfordshire. I see it in the wonderful community spirit in our villages and towns.
On Thursday we have the opportunity to vote for real change.”
